Cookie policy

In short

The site does NOT use marketing cookies. I don’t track you across the internet and I don’t sell anything on. Google Analytics 4 is the only third-party service that can set cookies here, and only with your consent.

Strictly necessary

One thing I remember without asking, because the site doesn’t work properly without it: your answer to the cookie banner (nac:consent). It lives in your browser’s localStorage, not on my server, and it doesn’t expire on its own: it stays until you clear it from your browser or change your mind in “Cookie settings”. While the tab is open, sessionStorage also keeps the spot where you left the page (nac:scrollpos), so “Back” takes you right there; it disappears when you close the tab. Your language isn’t remembered: it comes from the address (notacoder.ro in Romanian, notacoder.ro/en in English). None of these is a cookie, none travels with page requests and none identifies you.

Apart from Google Analytics (only with your consent, below), the site’s only cookie belongs to my admin panel (notacoder_admin): it appears only after I log into the panel, so you never get it. It keeps the session for at most 12 hours and it is protected: scripts on the page can’t read it, and the browser sends it only over a secure connection and only to this site.

My own traffic stats, cookie-free

When you leave a page, your browser sends me one anonymous record: the page, where you came from, how long you stayed, and a session identifier (nac_sid) kept in sessionStorage, which disappears when you close the tab. No cookie, no stored IP, no name.

If you accept analytics, a visitor identifier (nac_vid) is added in localStorage, so I know whether you have been here before. If you reject, I delete it on the spot.

Traffic analytics: Google Analytics 4

If you accept, I may use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people pass through – and only after you accept. Your IP is anonymized, with no advertising signals. GA4 sets the _ga and _ga_<id> cookies, each lasting 2 years. If you decline, it never loads; if you change your mind after accepting, its cookies are deleted.
